Agriculture Minister Shri C. Lalrinsanga lauded the efforts of Reitlang Organic Producers’ Company Limited (ROPCO Ltd.), an organic farming company established by turmeric growers of Reiek and ajoining villages and remarked that their transformation from a Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) to a Farmer Producer Company (FPC) was a big achievement for the farmers of Mizoram. He made this remark while addressing the first meeting of the shareholders of ROPCO Ltd at Reiek Community Hall, near the state capital Aizawl.

In his address, the Minister pointed that the path to organic farming and getting an agricultural/horticultural  produce certified as organic is not an easy path and entails a lot of commitment from the growers.  He highlighted that the growing market for organic products across the world and said that if Mizoram can script an organic farming success story it could help the economy of Mizoram grow further.

Shri Lalrintluanga Sailo, MLA of the area and Deputy Government Chief Whip also addressed the farmers and asked the farmers not to fall prey to the lure of quick returns but rather to establish ROPCO Ltd. as an trusted brand name in organic products.

ROPCO Ltd was set initially set up up by turmeric growers of Reiek about 3 years ago and in July, this year was incorporated as a company. The company's is wholly managed by turmeric growers of Reiek and adjoining three other villages and has about 400 shareholders. The company launched two products - organic turmeric powder in polypacks and organic turmeric capsules, on the occasion.
