Bethany Solace Home (Swadhar Greh) under Women & Child Development, Government of Mizoram was inaugurated yesterday at Bazarveng Mamit by Rev. Sister M. Joy, Provincial Superior, North East India and was solemnly blessed by Most Rev. Stephen Rotluanga, Bishop of Aizawl.

The Home will accomodate women above 18 years who are in grave situation who do not have appropriate families to look after them or those women who suffers domestic violence, divorce victims, widows, HIV Positive patients, Jail-acquits who do not have proper home to go to. These destitute women can stay in this Solace Home for three years with exception to those women who are above 55 years of age shall be allowed to dwell for 5 years after which they would be referred to Old Age Home. The Home will provide inter alia clothing, medical facilities, counselling and legal aid to the inmates of the Home.

Most Rev. Stephen Rotluanga, Bishop of Aizawl who ministered the blessing of the Solace Home expressed his gratitude and urged Bethany Sisters their dedication in looking after the Solace Home with utmost devotion to the welfare of their Clients. He also mentioned by stressing the importance of the Church in spreading the Gospel not only by words but also by deeds which will be exemplified in their performance in the Home.

Rev. Sister M. Joy, Provincial Superior, North East India humbly invited all the members present at the programme to support the functioning of the Solace Home in desired manner. Pu Alan Lalmuanpuia, State Co-Ordinator, NACO and Pu Dominic Lalnunhlua, Social Welfare Deptt Mamit were also amongst the speaker of the occasion.

The inaugural Programme was hosted by Sister Reshma, Resident Superintendent, Bethany Solace Home and Sister Dr. Prema Misquith, Project Director, Bethany Social Welfare administered vote of thanks to all the persons present in the programme especially the NGOs and Village Council Leaders.
