Cleanliness Week 2019 has been observed successfully in Lawngtlai District during 2nd to 9th October, the closing function of which was organised today at the DC's Conference Hall, Lawngtlai.

The function was chaired by Pi Rochuangkimi Khenglawt, MCS, Sub-Divisional Officer (Sadar), Lawngtlai. She reported that Lawngtlai town was ranked 5th among eight district headquarters and 9th among twenty three towns in the Cleanliness Competition, 2019 and thanked the citizens for their contributions towards this.

Inspection report for restaurant/tea stall, schools and government offices was given by inspection team of each category. Results were declared and prizes distributed. Pu Lalngheta Ralte, Editor, The Lawngtlai Post was presented with a token of appreciation for his contributions towards the cause of Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) through his newspaper.

In a restaurant/tea stall category, New Adalia Restaurant, Bazar Veng bagged the 1st prize, while MB Restaurant, Chandmary and God's Gift Restaurant-II, Bazar Veng stood in the 2nd and 3rd position respectively. In a school category, Govt Bethel Middle School got the 1st prize, ANM School Lawngtlai got the 2nd prize and Govt Primary School-I, Chandmary got the 3rd prize. In a government office category, ANM School Lawngtlai Principal's office was the cleanest, followed by District Medical Superintendent's office and District Education Office respectively.

Today's closing function was attended by government officials, NGOs representatives, students and prize winners.
