Cyclonic storms and hailstorms lashed  various parts  Mizoram on the 30th and 31st March  2010, causing widespread damages to houses( including office and school buildings and churches). In Serchhip District, Mr. Zalawma, 65 years lost his life and a child aged 7 years was injured. In South Khawlek, in Lunglei District, 2 persons were hospitalized due to injuries sustained during the storm.

As per the reports of the District Commissioners of various districts, 220 houses have been completely damaged, 1073 houses have suffered serious damages, 1967 houses have been partially damaged and 48 other non-residential buildings suffered damages.

In Aizawl District, 21 houses have been completely damaged, 253 houses have been seriously  damaged, 800 houses were partially damaged and 16 other non-residential buildings suffered serious damages. In Lunglei district, 41 houses have been completely damaged, 436 houses have been partially damaged and 11 non-residential buildings suffered damages.  In Serchhip  District, 88 houses have been completely damaged, 11 houses have been seriously  damaged and 321 houses suffered  partial damages and  21 other non-residential buildings suffered serious damages. In Saiha  District, 3 houses have been completely damaged, 529 houses have suffered  damages.  In Mamit District, 254 houses have suffered serious damages and in Kolasib District, 67 houses have been completely damaged, 26 houses suffered serious damages and 410 houses have been partially damaged.  .  In Lawngtlai  District, 5 houses have been completely damaged, 23 houses have been seriously  damaged and 27  houses suffered  partial damages .  In Champhai  District, 10 houses have been completely damaged.

The numbers of houses damaged are expected to go up as reports from the remote parts of Mizoram are still awaited.
