NABARD is expanding its developmental initiatives for all round economic growth of Mizoram State through various financial and promotional interventions. The State Government availed Rs. 30.00 crores from Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) for the development of drinking water supply and construction of rural roads projects during the year. Further, NABARD sanctioned Rs. 74.72 crores for construction of 13 roads, 2 bridges, 5 rural drinking water supply and one modern abattoir projects in the states. During the year 2009-10, NABARD, Mizoram RO, Aizawl has disbursed refinance for schematic lending amounting to Rs. 10.61 crores to Mizoram Rural Bank and Commercial Banks. For dairy development, Rs. 87.00 lakhs of interest free loans have been disbursed from Venture Capital Fund to the farmers in the State
Grant assistance amounting to Rs. 57.59 lakhs was disbursed during the year to All Mizoram Farmers’ Union (AMFU) and Tuiruangdung Multipurpose Tribal Upliftment Society (TUMTUS) for implementing the Wadi projects in Mamit, Kolasib and Aizawl districts. Besides, a loan of Rs. 5.00 lakhs was given to TUMTUS to provide marketting support to the passion fruit growers under the project.
Grant assistance aggregating to Rs 24.11 lakhs was utilized for Non Farm Sector promotional activities for supporting skill development programmes and construction of rural haats at Chhingchhip, Dulte and Keifang. During the year, a total of 702 beneficiaries were imparted skill trainings in tailoring, flower making, beauty culture, handloom and handicraft, etc. NABARD also sanctioned a Cluster Development Programme at Thenzawl and Serchhip with a grant assistance of Rs. 15 lakhs. An amount of Rs. 1.95 lakhs was released during the year for the purpose.
An amount of Rs. 6.89 lakhs was utilized during the year from Micro Finance Development Fund for promotion of Self-Help Groups in different districts of the State.
12 new Farmers’ Clubs have been formed during the year by Mizoram Rural Bank and Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Aizawl and Kolasib taking the tally of Farmers’ Clubs to 80 in the State.
A State Credit Seminar was organized on 2nd February, 2010. Based on the potential available in the State, institutional credit programme of Rs. 306.68 crore has been projected for 2010-11, out of which Rs. 65.26 crore is for agriculture and allied activities, Rs 46.49 crore for Non Farm sector and Rs. 194.93 for other priority sector. Pu H. Liansailova, Hon’ble Minister, Agriculture, Govt. of Mizoram graced the State Credit Seminar as Chief Guest.
