Aizawl, 11th November, 2021: Deputy Commissioner of Champhai District, Pi Maria C.T Zuali this morning inaugurated training on Geophysical Survey for Ground Water Development titled, 'Hydrogeological and Physical Survey, its implications on groundwater investigation' at Thingmaldin M.I.Project Site, Champhai which witnessed the presence of Pu Tapash Saraswati, Senior Consultant (Hydrogeologist), officials and farmers, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Pi Maria C.T Zuali encouraged the gathering farmers to be able to acclimatise with the new paces of development in terms of techniques and technologies. She advised them to follow experts' recommendations, and refrain from over exploitation of underground water which is depletable, instead use it judiciously otherwise the impacts will be harsh for their future farming, she added.

The Deputy Commissioner also reiterated the importance of opening separate bank account solely for watershed development and maintenance of projects. She also urged the officials and experts to practice lap to land projects and activities as much as possible.

Through this training, geophysical surveys will be conducted at 16 selected sites using Resistivity meter to check the feasibility of exploring underground water.

The program organised by IWRD, Champhai Division under National Hydrology Project (NHP) was chaired by Er. Laldingliana Hrahsel, Executive Engineer, IWRD Champhai Division. Pi Lalremtluangi, Geologist, Chief Engineer Office gave technical report which also included short speeches from resource person Pu Tapash Saraswati, Senior Consultant (Hydrogeologist) and Pu B. Lalzarzova, Divisional Horticulture Officer, Champhai District.
