In preparation for the upcoming Mizoram General Election, training was conducted yesterday at Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Aizawl for all District Election Officers (DEOs) from 8 districts of Mizoram. Sriram Taranikanti, IAS, Chief Election Officer, Tripura and Abhijit Sinha, IAS, Chief Election Officer, Nagaland send by Election Commission of India gave training on important matters relating to election process.  

 

Mizoram’s CEO SB Shashank, IAS presided over the inaugural programme where ECI representatives Tripura CEO Sriram Taranikanti and Nagaland CEO Abhijit Sinha who addressed the function, said that Mizoram has always been a role model in terms of conducting free and fair election in the past years and that the pre election preparation seems to be well organized and satisfactory. Tripura CEO said that Mizos demonstrating the dignity of labour is worth emulating for the rest of the country. Nagaland CEO said that problems faced by North East states in regard to election is more or less the same, hence the ECI’s decision to send two CEOs from the North East states. Stating that the election date is likely to be announced soon, he urged the DEOs, election officers and other staffs to be strong even in difficult situations, to have a clear mind while making decisions and to abide by the ECI’s guidelines so that free and fair elections are conducted in their own respective districts.  

 

The election officials were given training on District Election Management Plan & Vulnerability Mapping; Model Code of Conduct; IT Application including SUVIDHA, SUGAM & SAMADHAN; Election Expenditure Monitoring and EVM & VVPAT- Administrative Procedure & Technical Procedure, ETS, Mobile App. Mizoram Addl CEO Pi Lalzarmawii, IAS was also present at the inaugural function.
