No.609/2020-2021

Dated Aizawl, the 13th March 2021: Deputy Chief Minister Pu Tawnluia participated in conference of states/UT’s Ministers on Jal Jeevan Mission in the presence of Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Hon’ble Minister, Jal Shakti, Shri Rattan Lal Kataria through Video Conference.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Pu Tawnluia highlighted that huge financial support had already been provided to Mizoram from the Govt. of India, at the same time, as Minister in-Charge of Water Supply in the State, he mentioned that he had tried his best to push for release of the State Matching Share with the continued support of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, in spite of State’s financial problems so as to ensure smooth implementation of the JJM Program. In the conference, he requested the Ministry to kindly draw their special attention and positive action on two important issues in the implementation of JJM in Mizoram. The first being the state is not getting full amount of Funds required as per actual Project Estimates. Second is Mizoram topographical location and long distance water sources and necessity of importing all construction materials, the Project Cost are comparatively very high. He said that during the coming FY of 2021-22,  Total Project cost comes to Rs. 1300 crores whereas the tentative allocation of fund from the Ministry is likely Rs198.25 Crore (2.5 times of Rs 79.30 Crore) which is insufficient for full completion of the Projects. He kindly requested the Hon’ble Minister’s personal attention on this.
