Aizawl, 26 May 2026: This afternoon, a meeting was held at DC Pisa Pui Hall where Election Commission of India (ECI) Secretary, Shri Binod Kumar, met with the Aizawl District DEO, EROs, AEROs, Supervisors, and BLOs regarding preparations for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

During the meeting, Shri Binod Kumar stated that the purpose of the meeting was not only to assess the preparedness and progress made so far for the conduct of the SIR, but also to listen to any doubts, clarifications, or difficulties faced by the officials and to provide important guidance where necessary. He delivered detailed instructions and important guidelines regarding the official procedures for conducting the SIR.

Shri Binod Kumar stated that the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) 2026 is being carried out to ensure a clean and accurate Electoral Roll. As the exercise has nationwide significance, the ECI expects all officials involved to carry out their duties diligently, sincerely, and transparently. He urged the EROs and BLOs to thoroughly understand the rules and procedures governing the SIR and to discharge their duties with utmost dedication. He also instructed that the Enumeration Forms should be distributed within five days and conveyed his best wishes to all officials.

At the meeting, Aizawl District Election Officer, Er. Lalhriatpuia, presented through a PowerPoint presentation the preparations and progress made by Aizawl District for the conduct of the SIR (Special Intensive Revision).

Under Aizawl District, there are currently 12 Assembly Constituencies and 324 Polling Stations. Following rationalization, the number of Polling Stations is expected to increase to 359. The district presently has 2,92,635 voters, comprising 1,36,654 male voters and 1,55,981 female voters. In comparison, the number of voters in 2005 stood at 1,33,658. A total of 2,18,623 electors have already been mapped, which accounts for 74.71%. Additionally, 5,85,270 Enumeration Forms have already been printed.

After the meeting at DC Pisa Pui Hall, Shri Binod Kumar visited the Polling Station at Government Middle School, Zemabawk West.
