Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) Mizoram and Govt Lawngtlai College jointly organised a two-day District Innovative Challenge on Business Solution to Sustainable Development Goals at Govt Lawngtlai College Auditorium on February 13 & 14.
The inaugural function was chaired by Govt Lawngtlai College Principal Pu T. Thangthuama who welcomed all participants. Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (EDS) Project Coordinator Pu Lalrinnunga gave a brief presentation on EDS and District Innovative Challenge. Research Officer of Planning & Programme Implementation Department Pu Laldinthara Ralte kicked off the challenge with an inspirational speech.
On the first day, problems according to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals were pitched by the participants in front of the judges. Then the panel of judges chose problems that need solution. The participants were formed into teams under the team leaders whose suggested problems got selected. The teams then worked on solution for their team's problem through private sector involvement. On the second day, there was interaction with mentors followed by pitching of solutions by each team. Then winners were selected.
There was a cash prize of Rs 30,000/- for the winner, Rs 20,000/- for the runner-up and Rs 10,000/- for the 2nd runner-up. Each participant also received a participation certificate and Rs 500/- cash.
The Entrepreneurship Development Centre is under the scheme of Planning and Programme Implementation Department, Government of Mizoram called Entrepreneurship Development Scheme. They work for entrepreneurship development in Mizoram. This Innovative Challenge was organised in every district with collaboration with the district colleges.
