Electoral Roll observer for Lunglei, Serchhip and Mamit Districts Pu Sangdingliana, IAS visited Lunglei District today in connection with the ongoing Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls, 2020. 

A meeting was held with the Observer at Lunglei DC Conference Hall today with EROs, AEROs, BLOs, NGOs, political parties and media persons to discuss the Roll Revision and related issues.

Addressing the gathering, Pu Sangdingliana stated that Electors Verification Programme (EVP) had been carried out in campaign mode throughout the country to improve the health of electoral rolls. He stated that the campaign has been largely successful, with overwhelming response from the citizens of that State. He took the opportunity to thank the Election staff, BLOs, NGOs and political parties for their diligence and proactiveness during the ongoing Roll Revision exercise.

Election Officer, Lunglei gave a report on the latest developments under his Department. He stated that 4256 Form-6, 1481 Form – 7, and 9490 Form – 8 have so far been received from BLOs under the seven Assembly Constituencies of the District. He also stated that 5 new polling stations viz Maudarh, Old Ralvawng, Tleu, Kauchhuah and Bindasora have been approved by the ECI. Pukpui, Chanmari II and Electric Veng Polling stations are to be shifted to new buildings/ locations while Zohnuai Polling station would be bifurcated into Zohnuai East and Zohnuai West.
