Aizawl, the 12th July 2023: Food Corporation of India releases wheat and rice from stocks available in excess of the buffer stocking norms through Open Market Sale Scheme [OMSS(D)] at predetermined reserved prices from time to time to enhance the availability of Wheat and Rice in open market especially during the lean season to moderate the prices so that more and more consumers are benefitted from the scheme. Accordingly, the Government of India through FCI has decided to offer a defined quantity of Wheat and Rice from Central Pool Stock to flour mills/ private traders/ bulk buyers/ manufacturers of wheat products through e-auction to bring down the increasing prices of wheat and Rice.
FCI, RO NEF Region for the States of Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura has begun the Sale of wheat and rice under OMSS (D) to its empanelled (registered) buyers with effect from 28.06.2023. In the Auctions held on 28.06.2023 and 05.07.2023, a total of 600 MT Wheat and 10 MT rice was sold from the various depots under NEF Region. For the upcoming e-auction dated 12.07.23, both 2500 MT wheat and 2500 MT rice will be offered under OMSS (D) through 6 centres of FCI RO NEF Region for the State of Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura. Such a market intervention by FCI is expected to increase the foodgrain availability in the open market and reduce its market price to benefit the consumers and general public at large. Therefore, more participation is invited for the upcoming auctions. Auction will be conducted on every Wednesdays for Rice and wheat and details of Auctions will be released on every Friday for upcoming Auction.
FCI has taken this major initiative so that there is more participation from the local empanelled bidders and for which it is mandatory for the bidder to have a valid FSSAI license as on date of publishing of tender for participation. Bidding would be allowed in a State against the GST/TRADE TAX REGISTRATION registered in that State/UT only.
