GOC 3 Corps Lt. Gen A K Sahni who is currently on a three day official visit to Mizoram today met ex-servicemen of Mizoram drawn from various ranks of the services at the Mizoram Hall of the HQ 23 Sector Assam Rifles. Col. Z. S. Zuala, MLA; Wing. Cdr. (Rtd) Lalzawma; Col. John Zama; Sainik Welfare & Resettlement Director Surg. L. Cdr. (Rtd) Lalnuntluanga and more than 50 ex-servicemen were present at the interaction. IGAR (East) Maj. Gen. Satish Dua; Commander 23 Sector Assam Rifles Brig. GVK Reddy alongwith other officers were also present in the interaction.
At the interaction, Lt. Gen. Sahni said that the country and the Army will never forget the sacrifices and services rendered by the retired soldiers in the service of the nation especially during the 1965 and 1971 wars. He further added that resettlement of ex-servicemen, addressing their grievances and looking into the problems they face has always been a priority for the Army. He stated that compared to other parts of the country the footprints of the army are very less and attributed it the peace and tranquility that exists in the state. He hinted that once the situation in Manipur improves, an army battalion will be stationed in Mizoram.
The ex-servicemen apprised him of various problems that they faced such ECHS in matters of dental and eye problems; hardships encountered due to the written exam of Recruitment Rallies of the Army being conducted on Sundays as well as some other issues.
