20th December, 2024 : The launch event for Good Governance Week was held today at the Serchhip DC Pisapui Hall in the presence of Serchhip Deputy Commissioner Paul L. Khuma. During the program, aid was also distributed to refugee families.

Good Governance, a flagship initiative of the Government of India, seeks to establish effective, transparent, and accountable governance for the welfare of the people. In honor of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, December 25 was designated as Good Governance Day in 2014, and the occasion has been celebrated annually since then. This year, Good Governance Week is being observed from December 19 to December 25.

Each year, Good Governance Week adopts a specific theme, with this year’s theme being “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore” or “Good Governance Towards Rural Areas. ”The theme emphasizes ensuring that rural populations have better access to and benefit from government schemes and initiatives. To achieve this, government officials will visit rural areas, minimizing the need for people to travel to urban centers for administrative services.

The launch program was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Pu Lalrinzuala. A PowerPoint presentation on the importance of good governance, delivered by SDO (Sadar) Pi F. Lalnisai, highlighted its role in fostering transparency, accountability, and efficient administration.
