Dated Serchhip, the 20th December, 2024: With reference to Section 5 of the Environmental Protection Act, 1986,it is hereby informed to all concerned that the immersion of idols in rivers and other water bodies during festival occasions is strictly prohibited.
This prohibition is issued in the interest of preventing water pollution and protecting the ecological balance of these water bodies.
Violations of this order will be subject to appropriate legal action as per the provisions of the Environmental Protection Act, 1986.
