The Governor Lt. General(Rtd.) M.M. Lakhera today graced the Hindi Diwas Celebration function held at the I & PR Auditorium, organized by the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC) Aizawl

Speaking of the occasion the Governor said that in the last four years, he has been glad to see that people of Mizoram, especially children having a thirst to learn Hindi. He added that  people should not have the misconception that by learning Hindi, the cultural heritage and the customs of the people of Mizoram would be harmed. In fact, he said that only when one translates one's cultural heritage into another language, can then a person truly do service to his community and this can be possible only by learning other langauges.

The Governor remarked that in the past, scholars of Hindi made learning Hindi cumbersome, as they used difficult words and hence he urged scholars and teachers of Hindi to use simple expressions in order to make the learning of Hindi simple and effective. The Governor said that the people of other parts of the country have a lot to learn from the people of Mizoram and it is the reponsibility of the people to tell them about Mizoram and that  he added will  be possible and easier by learning Hindi.

The Governor also felicatated the successful candidates amongst the staff of the Central Government offices who had passed Prabodh, Praveen and Pragya Examinations.

DDG All India Radio(NER-II) & Director, DDK Aizawl  Shri C. Lalrosanga, who is also the Chairman of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC) Aizawl gave the welcome address and Shri R. K. Dhamija, Director, Khadi & Village Industries Aizawl read out the message of the Union Home Minister Shri P. Chidambaram on the occasion of 'Hindi Diwas'.

As a part of the Hindi Diwas Celebration and  also to popularize the use of Hindi in Central Government Offices and Corporations,  TOLIC will be observing Hindi Fortnight during  which competitions - essay, debates,etc will be organized.
