"ORDER

WHEREAS it is evident that firecrackers, fireworks, toy guns having pellets are a danger to human life, health and safety. Smoke and fumes produced by firecrackers and fireworks has harmful effects on human respiratory system and could cause high level of noise pollution for the public. Therefore, it has become necessary to take immediate precautionary steps to mitigate the potential detriments that can be caused by the use of fireworks and related products and use of toy guns having pellets for the prevention of danger to human life, health or safety and well being of all citizens within Khawzawi District.

Now, THEREFORE, I, K. VANLALTHIANA, DISTRICT MAGISTRATE, KHAWZAWL DISTRICT, do hereby under Section 163 (1) of the Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sangita (BNSS), 2023 (No. 46 of 2023) issued the following prohibitory order to be followed during the festive season for Christmas, 2024 and New Year, 2025 within Khawzawl District.

1. Total prohibition on the sale, purchase, possession and use of firecrackers, fireworks including sky lanterns that can cause air and noise pollution.

2. Total prohibition on the sale, purchase, possession and use of toy guns with pellets.

This order shall be applicable to Security Forces, Paramilitary Forces and to the general public. Any person contravening this order is punishable by legal action under Section 223 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 (No.45 of 2023) and other relevant provisions of law.

This order shall come into force for a period of 2 (two) months from the date of promulgation, unless withdrawn earlier.
