The villagers of Hmuntha village donated a large quantity of fresh vegetables and firewood for people quarantined at the various quarantine centres in Serchhip today. The villagers handed over these items to Deputy Commissioner Dr. Lalzirmawia Chhangte, IAS at the DC Office Complex.

Dr. Lalzirmawia Chhangte expressed his sincere gratitude at the selfless act of the villagers of Hmuntha, as these would be relished and valued by those under quarantine, he added. He said that they have set a good example for others to follow and expressed that this act shows the wonderful and age old Mizo ethos of selfless service in still very much ingrained in society.

Hmuntha team was led by Pu C. Malsawmdawngkima, VCP, Pi K. Lalrinpuii, the woman VC member and other 7 others villagers. The items included various local vegetables such as Antam, Phuihnam, Maian, Cabbage, Gingers, Chilli, Zopurun, Chingit, Rice, one Mini truck load of fire wood and Rs. 500 in cash.
