A meeting was held at DC Conference Hall, Mamit between Mrs. Soso Shaiza, Member, National Commission for Women i/c Northeast Region and the District level Officials on the topic concerning Women Development Schemes of NITI AAYOG under Mamit District. Pi Lallawmchhungi, Chairman and Prof. Lalneihzovi, Member, Mizoram State Commission for Women accompanied Mrs. Soso Shaiza.

In the meeting Mrs. Soso Shaiza reported that her visit to Mamit was necessitated by NITI AAYOG to verify the implementation and progress of the Schemes which are meant for Women Development in the District. She noticed that the absence of women harrasment cases in the Northeast Region does not necessarily mean that harrasment cases of women in absolute terms is void, it is actually the lack of awareness and ignorance of the law regarding the rights of women and hessitant nature of women to lodge a complaint to the authorities. The following points were discussed to take necessary measures for the upliftment of women in the District.

1. Establishment of Working Women Hostel
2. Ujjawala Schemes and its implementation in the District
3. Establishment and management of Women Helpline 181
4. Strengthening of Women Police figure in the District
5. Striving for establishment of Eklavya Model Residential School
6. Construction of separate student Hostel for girls and boys
7. Provision of sufficient Loans to Self Help Group
8. Vocational Training Centre establishment
9. Science Stream allotment to Govt. Mamit College
10. Improvement and upgradation of Women Hostel in Govt. Mamit College
11. Improvement of Sex Ratio in the District
12. Making available sufficient water for women for domestic uses throught water pipe connections or rainwater harvesting and natural water resources.

In the meeting Pi Lallawmchhungi and Prof. Lalneihzovi made their remarks about the functioning and steps taken by Mizoram State Commission for Women and hinted their readiness to conduct awareness campaign regarding the laws related to women rights and empowerment.

Dr. Lalrozama, IAS, DC Mamit falicitated the three guest with a souvenir gift and thank the guest for visiting his District and look forward to the betterment of women in the District. The meeting was attended by a bunch of District level Officials who are directly link with women development schemes.
