On November 12. 2012 (Monday) at 10:00AM. the Icfai University Mizoram conducted its First Convocation at its Auditorium at Durtlang North. His Excellency, the Governor of Mizoram who is also the Visitor of this University, Shri Vakkom Purusothaman graced the function as the Chief Guest. Pu Lal Thanhawla, Chief Minister of Mizoram was the Guest of Honour in this function. Fifty five graduating students from the University were conferred degrees in this Convocation and among which, the University rank-holders were also awarded medals.

The Governor in his Convocational address congratulated the successful candidates, and extended his warm congratulations to the members of the faculty who have worked hard to equip the students with requisite knowledge and prepare them for promising careers. The Chief Guest also narrated the development of lefai Univesity as a matter of pride for the State of Mizoram since; within a short span the University has progressed substantially and conducted important professional courses successfully with specialized skills to the students. The degree programmes offered by the University are appropriate to meet career aspirations of the young generation in the country and the State of Mizoram. where motivated managers and path-breaking professionals are in great demand. In this regard he stated that the Government’s focus and priority to the education sector and its encouragement of private initiative are. undoubtedly, praiseworthy.

The Chief Minister stated the importance of Education for social and economic development. He stressed the significance of private universities like Icfai Universities in imparting quality education and the importance of successful placement which can be achieved through academic excellence, students’ performance and proactive placement initiatives. The Chief Minister also stressed that the Mission Statement of Icfai University Mizoram in offering world-class, innovative, career-oriented professional post graduate and under-graduate programmes through inclusive technology-aided teachings to equip students with the requisite professional and life skills as well as social sensitivity and high sense of ethics, is indeed laudable, an indication that the institution strives to serve one of the most valued objectives of the Constitution of India, which is to provide the opportunities for higher education to its students. While congratulating the graduating students, the Chief Minister urged them to always keep in mind the true spirit of education and nurture them in the years to come.

The Vice Chancellor, Mr J.P. Ramappa gave a brief highlight on the status report of the University and the achievements during the past years. He stressed the achievements in the placement process which is a key indicator for quality academic deliverance by the University. He also stated the conduct of study tours which are arranged every year exclusively for the students of Mizoram.

The ICFAI University Mizoram was established under the provisions of the Institute of Chartered financial Analysts of India University, (Mizoram) Act 2006. (Act No. 4 of 2006) vide Notification No.B.12012/2/2006-EDC, dated 19.10.2006. The University is sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of-India (Icfai), a not-for-profit educational society. The University is empowered by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for award of degrees under section 22 of the UGC Act 1956.

With its 17.58 acres campus, the ICFAI University Mizoram has 43,000 sft of built up area that consists of Classrooms, Computer lab. Language lab, Library with 12,500 books, various common facilities like Auditorium, Recreation area etc and as the University grows more space will be built. The Icfai Society has already invested over Rs.30 Crores in the University so far and continues to support its operation and growth. So far, this is the biggest private sector investment in Mizoram.

The ICFAI University Mizoram offers campus based career oriented full time MBA. BBA. BCA and BHTM programs which will help the students start a career immediately on graduating.
