An Inter-College Folk Dance Competition organized by the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), a  student organisation, culminated today in a function held at Zarkawt Recreation Centre, Aizawl.  The Minister for Art & Culture Pu R.Lalzirliana graced the function as Chief Guest while the Art & Culture Director Pu R.Hmingthanzuala was the Guest of Honour.

Speaking on the occasion, the Art and Culture Minister Pu R.Lalzirliana congratulated the efforts of the MZP in successfully organizing such an event showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Mizo people. He expressed his belief that the event would inspire young minds to take pride in their culture and to imbibe the values of safeguarding and nurturing the Mizo culture and tradition. He earnestly appealed to all the Mizo people to unite under the banner of “Mizo” and not to discriminate and disintegrate on the grounds of different dialects or political boundaries. Stressing the need to preserve, promote and uphold the rich cultural heritage of the Mizo people, the Minister said that all Mizos share equal responsibility to carry on the flames of the rich legacy left behind by our forefathers. 

Government T.Romana College was declared winner of the competition, while the Mizoram University (MZU)and Pachhunga University College stood second and third respectively.
