Lawngtlai, 24th November 2025: As part of the preparations for the upcoming 12th Member of District Council (MDC) General Election under the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), a meeting was convened today by Shri Donny Lalruatsanga, District Election Officer (DEO), in his Office Chamber with officials of the Power & Electricity Department, Lawngtlai Division.

Shri Donny Lalruatsanga stressed the critical importance of ensuring stable and uninterrupted power supply for the smooth and successful conduct of the election. He highlighted that, apart from the use of EVMs, reliable electricity will be essential on polling day, especially due to the anticipated use of internet and mobile services. He urged the P&E Department to ensure proper and uninterrupted power arrangements at all required locations.

Several key issues were discussed in detail during the meeting. It was decided that the Election Office will conduct a thorough survey of each polling station to verify power readiness. Their findings will be submitted to the P&E Department so that any deficiencies identified during the inspection can be promptly addressed. It was further decided that BLOs will verify whether each polling station has the necessary items, such as three bulbs, one plug point, connection wires, flexible wires, and MCBs, and ensure that all are arranged in advance.

In addition, it was proposed that the Superintending Engineer (SE), Lunglei Power Circle, be advised to avoid scheduling any power shutdown on the following crucial dates; 27th November 2025, 28th November 2025, and 3rd December 2025, all of which are designated for Voting day.

The meeting was attended by the Returning Officer, Election Officer, Nodal Officer, EE (P&E) Lawngtlai, SDO Lawngtlai, SDO Bungtlang ‘S’, and JE Siaha.
