No.402/2021-2022

Aizawl, 16th November, 2021 :

Lunglei Deputy Commissioner Shri Kulothungan A today inaugurated two BaLA (Building as Learning Aid) Anganwadi Centres that were developed through Corporate Social Responsibility funding from Central Warehousing Corporation, Guwahati. The two centres are located at Pukpui locality within Lunglei town.

This makes Lunglei District the second district in the State after Serchhip District to have BaLA Anganwadi Centres. The first BaLA Anganwadi Centre in the State was developed in Thenzawl during Pu Kulothungan A’s tenure as the SDO(C) of Thenzawl, and was inaugurated in February of this year.

In his inaugural speech, the Deputy Commissioner explained that BaLA - Building as Learning Aid is about developing the physical spaces in schools - the classrooms, walls, floors, ceilings, corridors and the natural environment as learning resources for children. “It incorporates the ideas of activity based learning, child friendly learning environments and inclusive settings for children with special needs” he added. Thanking the BaLA implementation team and Central Warehousing Corporation, Guwahati for their CSR intervention, the DC expressed hope that these Centres would serve as models for other Anganwadi centres across the state.

Rahsiveng I, Bazar III & Lungpuizawl II Centres are also in the final stages of completion.
