The Officer Bearers of the Mizoram Journalists' Association (MJA) General Headquarters fruitfully visited the Serlui B Hydel Project on 23rd August and got a first hand picture of the Hydel Project.

erlui B Hydel project is expected to be commissioned by the end of September and will produce 12 MW of power. About 95 percent of the work on the Project is over and approximately Rs. 173,34,33,000 have been spent so far. The Hydel Project has three Units, each with a capacity to generate 4 MWs of power.  Units I and II had become operational on 22nd May and 30th April of this year, work on Unit III is expected to be over within the month of September and after that, the eagerly awaited Hydel Project will be commissioned.

Once it is commissioned, Serlui B Hydel Project will not only generate and ease the shortage of power in Mizoram but will become a big infrastructural asset and can benefit the people of Mizoram in a number of ways. The Tourism Department has plans to build resorts or cottages and develop facilities to attract tourists. The visting journalists expressed hope that the 53 km long reservior would prove beneficial in different ways in the future and and could usher in a new era of development around the Project.

Among the Office Bearers of the MJA who visited the Project were Pu H. Zosangliana, President; Pu Zonunsanga Khiangte Treasurer; Pu R. Lalhmangiahzuala Gen. Secretary and Secretaries Pu Sangzuala Hmar and Pu Lalrinmawia Sailo. They were accompanied by senior officials of the Power and Electricity Department and the I&PR Department. On their way back, they a meeting with the MJA Kolasib.
