Dated Aizawl, the 27th May, 2022: A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Government of Mizoram and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited today for the construction of new District Hospital in Serchhip.

The cost of construction for this 100 bedded Serchhip District Hospital Rs.2100 lakh (inclusive of all taxes) has been approved by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited from their Corporate Social Responsibility Fund. It is scheduled to be completed within 24 months' time after obtaining sanction from the Competent Authority.

The Project consists of a permanent six storey RCC building with ramps connecting the different level of patients. It will include key departments like Medicine, Paediatrics, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Dental and General Surgery.

The project will not only benefit Serchhip District but also the newly formed bordering Districts of Hnahthial and Saitual as District Hospitals are not available in the two new districts.

The MOU was signed today in the office of the Chief Minister, Mizoram between the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL); Secretary to the Government of Mizoram, Health & Family Welfare Department; and Deputy Commissioner, Serchhip District; in presence of Pu Zoramthanga, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr. R. Lalthangliana, Honourable Minister, Health & Family Welfare, etc., Government of Mizoram and Dr. Renu Sharma, IAS, Chief Secretary to the Government of Mizoram. This tri-partite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is for the construction of 100 bedded District Hospital at Serchhip.

Department of Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Mizoram shall be the Implementing Authority. Supervision and Monitoring works are entrusted to Deputy Commissioner, Serchhip District.
