Aizawl the 8th March, 2024 : Under the aegis of NABARD, Mizoram Regional Office, Aizawl, International Women’s Day 2024 Celebration Programme was held at HYVE City Hall, Aizawl on 08 March 2024 at 11:30 AM with the Theme ‘Count Her In: Accelerating gender Equality through Economic Empowerment’. The Function was graced by Pi H Lalchhandami, CEO, MzSRLM, Pi Lalrohlupuii, SMS, Home Science KVK, Aizawl, Pi Lalhlupuii Ralte, Proprietor, Zo Bio Hub, Pu KVSSLV Prasada Rao, General Manager/ OIC, NABARD, Mizoram, T Khup Guite, Deputy General Manager, NABARD. Women SHG Members, successful Women Entreprepeurs participated in the celebration.

Pu KVSSLV Prasada Rao, General Manager/ OIC, NABARD welcomed the guests and delivered a key note address highlighting the purpose of organising IWD 2024 function. He highlighted Women are at the centre of various developmental and promotional interventions supported by NABARD such as Skill Development, Tribal Development, Micro Enterprise Development for SHGs in the State of Mizoram. He also highlighted the role played by women in the societal and economic development of the State.

Pi Lalhpuluii Ralte, Proprietor, Zo Bio Hub who is a successful woman entrepreneur shared her experience of managing a start-up firm benefitting farmers with market linkages. Zo Bio Hub is a startup that aims to preserve the biodiversity and encourages farmers to grow native aromatic and medicinal plants.

Pi Lalrohlupuii who is an expert in Home Science in KVK-Aizawl spoke on the role of KVKs in the country in general and the state of Mizoram in particular. She informed that KVK impart training and technological knowledge to the farmers and rural youth in the state. She stressed for the need of proper nutritional diet, negative effect of having excess sugar and salt in human body, feeding children with proper nutrition and the role of Women SHGs in women empowerment.

Pi H Lalchhandami, CEO, MzSRLM graced the function as Chief Guest delivered a talk on the role of Rural Livelihood Mission in the State for women’s economic empowerment. She thanked NABARD for the support and collaboration extended to MzSRLM in this endeavour.

She highlighted the role played by Women SHGs, SHGs federations or Village Organisations (VOs) for their women members. For taking up enterprise activities by women members of SHGs, Community Investment Fund (CIF) and Credit Linkages Banks played a great role in the process. She also highlighted success stories of SHGs and Women Entrepreneur under the Rural Livelihood Mission.

On the occasion, two Day exhibition of producsts by SHGs/FPOs/Women Entepreneurs was inaugurated by Pi H Lalchhandami, CEO, MzSRLM.
