National Immunization Day was observed yesterday (February 23, 2015) in different parts of Mizoram. As a part of this, Children below 5 years of age were given polio drops under “Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization” Programme.
In Phullen RD Block of Aizawl District, an opening function was held at Phullen Health Sub-Centre chaired by Dr Zoliankimi Ngente and Shri K.Zorammuana, the Block Development Officer kick-started the activity by administering Polio vaccine to children upto five years of age. Thereafter, Polio vaccine was administered the whole day at a Booth set up at the Sub-Centre. This was followed by house to house visits by workers of Health Department today.
At Aibawk, two Booths were set up and the BDO Shri Lalmuanpuia initiated the programme by administering the first drop. The programme was also carried out at Darlawn in the presence of the BDO Shri Alan Lalthanzara.
In Champhai District, the Day was observed following the same procedure as other parts of the state. The opening function held at Champhai Vengsang YMA Hall was chaired by Dr C.Zirliana, Chief Medical Officer and Shri Vanlalngaihsaka, Deputy Commissioner was the Chief Guest.
The Day was also observed in other districts of the state with the same procedure.
