Planning Commission Member Secretary Mrs Suddha Pillai visited farms in Sihphir (about 15 kms from Aizawl) this morning where NLUP beneficiaries had cultivated Chayote and other crops. Mrs Pillai also inaugurated a BNRGSK building constructed at a cost of Rs 9,66,000 /-. At a brief function, Mrs Pillai mentioned her deep impression on their interest in NLUP, which she felt had the potential to improve Mizoram economy dramatically. She pointed out that all government schemes were for the benefit of the people, and people were obliged to make full use of it. She urged parents to take good care of their children, teach them about health and cleanliness, and the importance of hard work without which there can never be any success. She said that good health is a gift of God, and we should not spoil it by harmful habits that destroy our health. Visiting the farms, Mrs Pillai felt measures should be taken to improve the drastic low prices farmers get for their produce so that they would receive appropriate benefits for their toil, and urged the district authorities to look into it. She also suggested that pictures should be uploaded whenever new developments take place to serve as visual evidence.
Mizoram State Planning Board Member Secretary & NLUP Implementing Board Vice Chairman Mr P.L.Thanga also thanked NLUP beneficiaries for their hard work and effort in taking up various trades under NLUP, and informed them that NLUP officials were always ready to offer help andadvice whenever required. Mrs Pillai left for New Delhi in the evening.
