During his official trip to Delhi last week Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Hardeep S. Puri and senior officials from Health & Family Welfare and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and submitted memorandum on behalf of Government of Mizoram.
On January 17, Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai and Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a formal discussion at length to discuss the viabilities key infrastructure projects for the state of Mizoram. During this meeting proposal from Governor on setting up of IIM, IIT and AIIMS were discussed. Governor had also seek assistance from Union Home Minister for early completion of Indo-Bangladesh Border fencing works, setting up of International Trade Centre within KMMTTP at Zochachhuah, improvement of Lengpui Airport up to the standard of International airport and strengthening the security arrangements along the line of Indo-Myanmar border.
Earlier on the previous day, Governor had also an audience with Union Minister for Civil Aviation Hardeep S. Puri to talk on flights frequency at Lengpui Airport, Direct flight from Lengpui to New Delhi and arrangement of more flights to other destinations. At the behest of Governor Pillai, Shri Hardeep S. Puri had assured that a joint consultation with flight operators would soon be convened under his chairmanship to solve the flight issues concerning Mizoram. Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai had handed over memorandum on behalf of the state government to senior officials of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and also to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
