The Newly Constructed One Stop Centre under the Ministry of Women and Child Development at Kolasib Vengthar was today inaugurated by Kolasib Deputy Commissioner Pu Zoengsanga.

One Stop Centres (OSCs) are intended to support women affected by violence, in private and public spaces, within the family, community and at the workplace. Women facing physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and economic abuse, irrespective of age, class, caste, education status, marital status, race and culture will be facilitated with support and redressal.

The objectives of the Scheme is to provide integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence, both in private and public spaces under one roof and also to facilitate immediate, emergency and non-emergency access to a range of services including medical, legal, psychological and counseling support under one roof to fight against any forms of violence against women.

At the inaugural function the Chief Guest Pu Zoengsanga said that the need for OSC that has cropped up is one thing which needs to be seriously taken into account, Many forms of Social evils have been doing rounds in the Mizo Society in the past recent years, violence against women, drug abuse, HIV Positive cases on the rise etc. He said that though all these issues cannot be addressed at one go we need to fight these social evils wherein each family has responsibility in bringing about a better and healthier society.

The recently inaugurated OSC has a facility of 5 beds, Counseling Room, Administrative Office, Kitchen etc to be manned by Centre Administrator, Counselor, paramedical Staffs, case Master, Data Analyst etc.
