Mamit 9th August, 2021: Consequent to the power granted by Disaster Management & Rehabilitation Department, Govt of Mizoram Letter No. B.13021/101/2020 - DMR dt 7.8.2021, permission is hereby granted for Free Movement between Kanhmun (Mizoram) and Damcherra (Tripura) for the time and dates mentioned below :
Time: 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Dates: Monday and Friday
During the aforementioned time period, persons may travel from Damcherra to Kanhmun to without the need for mpass . They shall pass through a thermal screening test, and shall be subject to Rapid Antigen Test only if they are symptomatic. They must return to Damcherra before 2:00 PM, and must not venture beyond Kanhmun village. Those that wish to go beyond Kanhmun village will have to register using mpass and go through medical screening as per normal procedure.
Persons that intend to travel from Kanhmun to Damcherra shall first have to seek permission from Kanhmun VLTF. Persons traveling to Damcherra from Kanhmun shall be given a maximum of 2 hours time period within which they must return. However, since 2:00 PM is the deadline for free movement, even if the allotted 2 hours has not passed, they must return to Kanhmun before 2:00 PM without fail.
This permission for free movement shall only apply to those travelling on foot. Anyone found guilty of breaching the specified time periods shall be penalised as mentioned under The Mizoram(Containment and Prevention of the Spread of Covid 19)Act,2020, Chapter -ll, Clause 5 Sub- clause 9) and made to pay a fine of Rs. 1,000. Those that refuse to pay such fine maybe penalised under the same Act, Chapter -ll, Clause 5 Sub - clause 16 ) and liable to be sent to jail for a period of 3 months which may extend up to 1 year. Furthermore, those that violate the aforementioned stipulations shall also be subjected to medical screening and quarantine upon their return as per standing guidelines from Health & Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Mizoram.
During the period of free movement , Covid-19 Appropriate Behaviour (mask-wearing, social distancing etc.) must be strictly followed.
