Aizawl, the 25th November 2020 : Dr. K. Beichhua, Minister, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary launched a pilot project under the state flagship programme – Socio-Economic Development Programme (SEDP) to be implemented by AH & Veterinary Department today at the AH & Vety Polyclinic in Aizawl.

Dr. Beichhua mentioned that the project which will cover 1020 beneficiaries is estimated to cost Rs. 1895.28 lakhs and aims to achieve self-sufficiency in meat and poultry products. He requested the first batch of beneficiaries to lead the way and set an example for other beneficiaries.

Dr. Hmarkunga, Director, AH & Vety. Department who presented the technical report outlined the selection process of the beneficiaries. He mentioned that under SEDP the Department will focus on piggery which will include Piglet Multiplication Units(PMU) and Piggery Fattening Units(PFU) and poultry farming which will include Broiler Farming and Backyard Poultry(Rainbow Rooster).
