In the light of the pandemic Covid-19 and the consequent lockdown stamped on the whole country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held a video conference with all State Chief Ministers and UT Lt. Governors to discuss the various steps taken by them respectively in battling the spread of the disease. In the consultation today, as most of the CMs agreed that lockdown needs to be continued, the Prime Minister decided to extend the lockdown for further two weeks.

In today's video conference, Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga alongwith Health Minister Dr. R. Lalthangliana, Home Minister Pu Lalchamliana, Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Health Secretary and Director General of Police were present.

The Prime Minister also encouraged the Heads of States to look after the daily needs and general welfare of the working class, also basic amenities for industry employees as well as to strictly check black marketing and hoarding. Agriculture and allied sectors must be given priorty, he also added.

In a short meeting after the video conference, the Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga instructed the Home Department officials to maintain a strict vigil along the borders to prevent entry of persons without permits. He also reiterated that it was only with the concerted efforts of all concerned including the general public that the fight against COVID-19 would be successful.
