Six day long National Level Painting Camp in Mizoram, organized by Lalit Kala Akademi, Regional Centre, Lucknow in collaboration with the Mizoram Artist Society(MAS) was inaugurated at Banquet hall, Tourist Lodge, Chaltlang, Aizawl on yesterday by Mizoram State Art & Culture Minister Mr. R. Romawia.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister express his gratefulness to the Akademi for holding the painters Camp which concludes on March 9. He was with the expectation that the national level painting camp to be beneficial to the visiting artists and art professors from 5 different state as well as the host state participants. Painting is not only an expression and art but a multifaceted. It can also be considered as a history book which will later becomes a revealing source of great knowledge and information to new generation was his personal understanding of painting as he shared his thoughts to the gathering. Mr. Romawia also invites the artists to produce Mizoram in abstract and expressionist art as well.

Another speaker, Shri Sidartha Gosh, Secretary, Lalit Kala Akademi, Lucknow who after briefing those attending the inaugural function about the role, the Akademi plays in promoting art and Artists throughout India, was lavish in his appreciation of the self-taught and freelance Mizo Artists. Yet he suggest at least one Art College in Mizoram to be very influential for art and artists development in the state which is yet to have such an institution.

During this painting camp the participating artists will work on few selected themes including the Mizo social life and its rural pictures. The finished art works is to be sent back to the Akademi in Lucknow upon conclusion.
