In recognition to his outstanding
contributions to a wide range of social works, a veteran activist and leading
figure for important public causes in Kerala, Shri Kummanam
Rajasekharan, the Governor of Mizoram will be conferred the honorary degree
of D. Litt by Shri Jagdishprasad Jhabarmal Tibrewala
University(SJJTU), Rajasthan.
The University has already honoured various
dignitaries of our country who contributed their exemplary services to the
society in their respective field, with honorary degree of D. Litt during
the convocation and they include serving and retired Governors, Film
personalities, Noted writers, religious heads etc.
Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan was born on 23
December 1952 to advocate V. K. Ramakrishna Pillai and P. Parukkutty
Amma in Kummanam village of Kottayam , Kerala. He
completed his school education from Government Upper Primary School in Kummanam
and later graduated from CMS College Kottayam with a Bachelor of Science in Botany. He then took a postgraduate diploma in Journalism and began a career
in journalism in various newspapers.
In 1974, Rajasekharan joined Deepika news-daily as sub-editor, embarking a career in journalism. He later worked in different new-dailies such as Rastravaartha, Keraladesam, Kerala Bhooshanam, and Kerala Dwani. In 1976, he took a break from journalism and joined Food Corporation of India (FCI) as a government servant. He resigned the job from FCI in 1987 and became a Pracharak. From 1987 onwards he involved in various environmental, social, spiritual, political activities. In 29th of May 2018, he was appointed as Governor, Mizoram.
Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan, along with the rest
of awardees will be conferred a degree during the annual convocation of
Shri JJT University which will be held in the forthcoming February –
March.
