The 6th Mizoram State Anti-Tobacco Day was observed today at the OPD building of District Hospital Lawngtlai (DHL) organised by National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), Lawngtlai District with the theme of "tobacco and lung health".

The programme was chaired by Dr Paul Lalchungnunga, Medical Officer, DHL and Dr Lalthlamuana, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Lawngtlai District graced it as the Chief Guest. It was attended by Dr Zothanpari Chhakchhuak, District Medical Superintendent, DHL, who also delivered a speech, doctors and staff of DHL, students and NGO representatives.

As per report given by H. Vanlalmuansangi, Social Worker, NTCP Lawngtlai District has organised awareness programme on tobacco in 121 schools, 40 numbers of training and 211 numbers of squad drive by Anti-Tobacco Squad, and 1215 persons has attended Tobacco Cessation Clinic since April 2017 till date.
