A closing ceremony of the vocational rehabilitation training to the surrendered SPLA cadres was organized at Aizawl helipad  under the aegis of 57 Mtn Div on 26 Aug 09.  The function was attended by Honorable Parliamentary Secretary Home and Rural Development, Lalrin Mawia Ralte, Home Secy Lalmalsawma IAS, Secy Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee K Vanlalrawna and other dignitaries from State Government, Brigadier Rajeev Pant, Commander 27 Sector Assam Rifles, Col Vikram Singh Commanding Officer 557 ASC Bn, Lt Col Debasish Sahu Stn Cdr Aizawl along with other Army offrs and the trainees.
 
 

The vocational training commenced on 28 Jul 2009 at Aizawl, Mizoram and was attended by 27 trainees.  The rehabilitation training included trades like driving, vehicle repairs and computers.  The trades were selected as per the choices given by the trainees themselves.   The training was imparted by qualified instructors from the Army.  The main focus was to prepare them to earn a respectful livelihood.

On 17 Jul 2009 in a Home Coming Ceremony 64 cadres of Sinlung Peoples’ Liberation Army (SPLA) had laid down arms before the Chief Minister of Mizoram and pledged to join the mainstream.    The Mizoram Govt had awarded general amnesty to the surrenderees who in turn requested for some sort of rehabilitation training for them.  Out of 64 cadres, 27 cadres joined the training in which four were trained in computers applications and 23 underwent well planned motor driving and maintenance course.   

In the ceremony, Brigadier Rajeev Pant, Commander 27 Sector Assam Rifles while welcoming the guests, appreciated the sincerity and interest shown by the trainees during the rehabilitation programme.  The certificates and the learning driving licenses were awarded to the trainees by the Chief Guest, Honorable Parliamentary Secretary Home & Rural Development, Mr Lalrin Mawia Ralte.  During his address, Mr Ralte highly appreciated the training organized by the Red Shield Division and the Army’s contribution towards the betterment of the society.  The ceremony culminated with a cultural programme and vote of thanks for the distinguished guests.
