Pu Tawnluia, Deputy Chief Minister of Mizoram, attended UD&PA department-organised “Swachhta Hi Seva Cleanliness Rally” at Mizoram New Capital Complex today.

Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2019, a jan andolan for Swachhata, is organised from 14th September, 2019 to 2nd October 2019. The campaign focused on Plastic Waste Management, given the detrimental effect of uncollected plastic waste on human beings, animals and the environment at large.

Pu Tawnluia, Deputy Chief Minister of Mizoram, who addressed the gathering said that Swachhta Hi Seva is a  movement, which aims at generating greater public participation towards cleanliness, organized to mark the commencement of the 150th year celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi.

Officials, volunteers from Providence School and Mt. Carmel School who participated in the event pledged to always refuse the use of single use of plastic bags and to be active participant in the movement.
