Aizawl, 24th March 2021 : ‘PUM 2021:Mizoram Innovation Fair’ organised by the Labour Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Department (LESDED) was inaugurated at Govt. ITI Complex, Aizawl today. The 3-day Innovation Fair will showcase various products and items made by the trainees and alumni of the Govt. ITI as well as private craftsmen and entrepreneurs from across the state. The Fair will include competitions under various categories for all the participants and for the Govt. ITI trainees in their respective trades.

Inaugurating the Innovation Fair, LESDED Special Secretary Pu Lalramsanga Sailo, IRS, reiterated that vocational education, more than formal education, plays a vital role in today’s world. Highlighting the various schemes and measures taken up by the department, the Special Secretary mentioned that repair and renovation works of ITI Aizawl was currently being done under the World Bank-sponsored project ‘STRIVE’. As skill training has become top priority, the central government also has decided to convert ‘Employment Exchange’ into ‘National Career Centre’, he added.

LESDE Director Pu K.Lalhmingliana pointed out that China ruled the world market mainly because of their superiority in skills and, hence, in order to compete with the rest of the world, skill development must be pursued more seriously in Mizoram too.

‘PUM 2021:Mizoram Innovation Fair’ will be open to the public tomorrow, ie.25th march, 2021 (Thursday) and the Fair will be closed on 26th March, 2021 (Friday) with LESDE Minister Pu Lalchhandama Ralte gracing the occasion.
