World Alzheimer’s Day, an international campaign aimed at raising awareness and challenge the common stigma that surrounds Alzheimer related dementia, was observed at Chanmari Veng YMA Hall, Aizawl on 21st September, 2019.

Dr. R. Lalthangliana, Minister of Health & Family Welfare Department, who graced the occasion as chief guest, said at the event that Alzheimer disease is very complex and since people suffering from Alzheimer disease are mostly aged, they need special care, love and patience from those who look after them. The minister also emphasised  the need to build a mental health hospital in the state saying it would be easier to treat and diagnose the disease, and pledged to contribute Rs. one lakh to Alzheimer's & Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI) : Mizoram Chapter in their effort to tackle the disease.

Alzheimer's & Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI) Mizoram Chapter and National Mental Health Programme (NMHP) jointly organised the event which was also attended by students from various colleges in Aizawl.
