Lunglei, Dated 16th March, 2021: World Consumer Rights Day was observed at Hnahthial yesterday at a function held at Government Hnahthial College Auditorium, which was graced by the Deputy Commissioner Pu H.Dolianbuaia.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner urged those present to work towards raising their awareness, and become more proactive with regards to their rights and responsibilities as consumers. He thanked the Hnahthial District Consumers' Union for their tireless efforts towards ensuring fair practices by businesses and service providers across the District. Talking about this year's theme 'Tackling Plastic Pollution', he said that plastic waste is an enemy of the environment and of mankind; and urged those present to reduce their plastic use, and adopt sustainable alternatives to plastic wherever possible. 

To celebrate World Consumer Rights Day each year there is a specific theme that addresses different concerns regarding all consumers. This year, Consumers International has announced that the theme for World Consumer Rights Day 2021 is 'Tackling Plastic Pollution.' The campaign will raise awareness and engage consumers globally to adopt and promote more sustainable practices.
